"Veni Creator Spiritus" is a hymn normally sung in Gregorian Chant and is considered the "most famous of hymns"
It is an ancient Christian Hymn written by Rabanus Maurus in the ninth century.
The audio file is played by the Finale Synthesizer, and is not a substitute for the real thing
In this rendering, there are six verses.
The first verse is the Gregorian Chant in latin.
The second verse is in very simple 4 part harmony - a Capella, the words repeat the latin translated to english.
The third verse is accompanied by piano with a simple harmonization.
The fourth verse is also accompanied by piano with a somewhat more elaborate harmonization.
The fifth verse is in 4 part harmony, with Bach's choral prelude BWV667 played on the Organ, also with Piano.
There is a short bridge
The sixth verse is in unison with the concluding portion of the choral prelude played on the Organ.
- The melody is accented by the deep notes of the pedal.
This is glorious music. It fits together so nicely that I suspect that BWV667 was originally used as an accompanyment.
